The wires in the harness are a heavier gauge than other harnesses I’ve seen, which is good for trailers with many lights – the more lights, the heavier gauge you need. The harness was plenty long, connectors fit well, and the instructions were straight-forward enough. I had the rear bumper off to install the hitch, so installation was particularly easy for me! I was kind of bummed when I realized I had to run a wire to the battery, but that is what it takes to have an active wiring system that shuts down if there is an electrical problem instead of a meltdown. Vehicle tail lights and brake lights still work if the fuse blows.

Haven’t used it yet, but I’m sure it will be fine. The hitch receiver seems to be high quality and can’t beat the price! I have one suggestion to anyone that installs this hitch: take off the rear bumper – it’s easy to do and you can find videos on YouTube for directions. After removing the bumper, this was an easy installation for one person. Have the wiring harness ready because it is really easy to install that with the bumper off too. The width of the hitch was about a quarter of an inch shorter than the width of my frame, so I used two large washers as shims so I didn’t stress the hitch brackets tightening the bolts.Read more .

I have 2 Jeep Patriots . I put one of these on both of them. It was an easy installation as my older son helped me bolt them on. We use them to haul a bike rack . They work great for that. It also gives a little extra metal at the back of the car in case someone was to bump the rear of your car at a stop light.1033448
